Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

Hello and welcome to our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) page here at Healdswood Infant and Nursery School!

My Name is Miss Jessica Stretton-Clarke and I am the Co-ordinator for SEND!

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities- INTENT

Healdswood Infant and Nursery School is a nurturing and inclusive setting where all children, adults, parents and carers respect each other and grow together in order to reach their full potential. Our children love to learn and our adults provide an inspiring environment where all children learn through play. We aim high for academic success and model excellent behaviour to encourage children to be the best they can be. For some children, however, it is necessary to provide additional support and/or resources to enable them to achieve.

We aim for inclusion through high quality teaching for all, taking into account a child's starting points and each individual need that they may have. Targets for children with Special Educational Needs and disabilities are broken down into small steps and are made 'SMART'. Intervention groups, adult support and 1:1 provision are set out as required for those that would benefit from this.

Children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities also have the same opportunities in terms of school trips, visitors sessions and after school clubs.

This section of the website aims to answer questions you may have about the additional educational support that is being provided to help your child in school.
