Mental Health & Well-Being
At Healdswood Infant and Nursery School, we are committed to supporting the positive mental health and well-being of our entire school community (children, staff, parents and carers). We recognise that mental health and well-being is just as important as physical health.
We believe that positive mental health and well-being are vital to ensure our children flourish and live fulfulling lives. We know that everyone experiences life challenges and everyone responds to these differently, and this is why we tailor the support given to each individual's needs.
Our role within school is to ensure that children are able to manage times of change and stress, and that they are supported to access help when they need it. Children are taught when to ask for help, how to ask for help, what help they may be given and how this will help them stay mentally healthy.
At Healdswood Infant and Nursery School we believe that the teaching of positive mental health and well-being within the PSHE curriculum is paramount. PSHE covers the topics; caring friendships, respectful relationships, being safe, family, healthy me and mental well-being. We aim to promote children's well-being through an understanding of their own and other's emotions and the development of healthy coping strategies.
Levels of Support
Universal Support- to meet the needs of all of our pupils through our ethos, school vision, learning powers and overall curriculum.
Additional Support- for those who may need short-term additional intervention whom have become vulnerable due to life events such as a bereavement of separation
Targeted Support- for those who need individualised, differentiated support and specific targeted interventions or outside agency involvement.
